GST rate hike: List of items to get costlier from next week 

Goods and Services Tax rate hike: ready to spend more on household items, hotels, and bank services, among others from next week. After the advice that was taken up in the two-day 47th GST council meeting in Chandigarh on Wednesday, the Goods and Services Tax(GST) was hiked for countless items.

From July 18, the prices of several essential products and services are going to expand. 

The GST on writing or drawing ink, LED lamps, lights, fixtures, and their metal printed circuit board has been hiked to 18 percent from 12 percent. 

The GST rate on solar water heaters and systems has been hiked to 12 percent from 5 percent. 

GST rate on job work about the manufacture of leather goods and footwear has been increased to 12 percent from 5 percent, as well as rate on works contract for roads, bridges, railways, metro, crematory being increased to 18 percent from 12 percent. 

GST on the following items is going to be hiked from July 18. Here is the full list

- Printing, writing, or drawing ink - 18%

- Knives with cutting blades, Paper Knives, Pencil sharpeners and blades, Spoons, Forks, Ladles,        Skimmers, Cake-severs, etc. -18%

- Power- driven pumps designed for handling water such as submersible pumps, Bicycle pumps, and centrifugal pumps - 18%

- Machines for cleaning, sorting, seed, grain pulses, Machinery used in the milling industry, etc.; Pawan Chikki is Air Based Atta Chikki, wet grinder - 18%

- Grading eggs, fruit, or other agricultural produce and its parts, Milking machines, and dairy machinery - 18%

- LED Lamps, lights, and fixtures, circuits board - 18%

- Drawing and marking out instruments - 18%

- Solar water heater and system - 12%

- Prepared/finished/chamois/composition leathers - 12%

- Cheques, lost or in book form - 18%

- Hotel accommodation priced up to Rs.1000/day shall be taxed at 12%

- Works contract for roads, bridges, railways, metro, etc. - 18%

- Works contract supplied to central and state governments, canals, dams, pipelines, plants for water supply, hospitals, etc. & sub-contractor thereof - 18%

- Works contract supplied to central and state governments, union territories - 12%
