Rahul Dravid will join the Rohit Sharma-led Indian side ahead of their departure to the UAE for the Asia Cup. A squad led by Rahul will travel to Zimbabwe wherein India will play 3 ODIs on August 18, 20, and 22 in Harare.

BCCI secretary Jay Shah said on Friday that India players and support staff will travel to the UAE on August 20, a week ahead of their opener against Pakistan. India batting coach Vikram Rathore and bowling coach Paras Mhambrey have also been rested.

"VVS Laxman will be traveling with the India team to Zimbabwe. We have decided to give Rahul a few day's breaks " Jay Shah said, as quoted by the Indian Express.

Rahul Dravid has had a busy touring schedule with the Indian team ever since he took over from Ravi Shastri at the end of the T20 World Cup last year.

Senior players, including captain Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Ravindra Jadeja along with in-form stars Suryakumar Yadav and Shreyas Iyer have been rested for the ODI series against Zimbabwe.

India named fit-again KL Rahul as captain after the Karnataka batter cleared his fitness test. The BCCI selection committee had initially picked Shikhar Dhawan as the captain for the 3 ODIs.
