Happy New Year 2023 everyone! Well, almost everyone, because Delhiites were greeted with a Jor ka jhatka in the late hours of the first day of the New Year. An earthquake of 3.8 magnitudes was recorded in Haryana's Jhajjar with tremors in Delhi and surrounding areas on Sunday and it kind of shook people into being all positive for the brand-new year.
While there were no reports of any injuries or damage, it kind of doused the celebrations for the residents. As most of the people were outside and trying to enjoy the moment, many were unsure about the tremors felt in the capital. That's why users flocked to the micro-blogging site to be sure whether it was actually an earthquake.

NCS is the nodal agency of the Government of India for monitoring earthquake activity in the country.
As per the readings by the NCS, the earthquake occurred in the Northwest of Haryana's Jhajjar at 1:19 am. The depth of the earthquake was 5 km below the ground.
In a tweet it wrote, "Earthquake of Magnitude: 3.8, Occurred on 01-01-2023, 01:19:42 IST, Lat: 28.71 and Long: 76.62, Depth: 5 km, location: 12km NNW of Jhajjar, Haryana."
